J.C. Penney T-Shirt Controversy

Conflict:
Melissa Wardy, the t-shirt designer didn't realize that the "I am too pretty to do homework so my brother does it for me" t-shirt would cause so much drama. However, mothers and reporters thought differently.
Audience:
Considering that the t-shirt was made for young girls ages 7-12 years of age, I think that they might find this interesting, due to the fact that it is about fashion.
Timeliness:
Yesterday, August 31st, 2011 is when the t-shirt was released. The same day, it was taken off J.C. Penney's website, and out of their stores.

Summary:
Melissa Wardy designed this t-shirt saying "I'm too pretty to do homework so my brother does it for me." She designed it for the J.C Penney online website, and was quickly shipped to the stores. However, the press seems to think that this is a controversy and that this needs attention.

Reaction:
Mothers and news reporters seem to think that this t-shirt has an inappropiate and wrong message to it. In today's society, we tell our girls to think that "everyone is beautiful and no one should be told different." If that's true, then why was this t-shirt made? What is it trying to tell us? That girls who actually DO their homework, aren't pretty? Whatever the designer is saying, I don't think this shirt should have been made at all.
